2. – 7. November

or the fourth year in a row, the National Center for Cinema and Moving Image – le Centre national du cinéma et de l’image animée – (CNC) is pleased to accompany this new edition of the Ouaga Film Lab.

A veritable incubator for future projects, the Ouaga Film Lab has become an internationally recognized platform, a development and co-production laborato- ry for film projects, with a major ambition for the local industry: the professionalisation and development of producers in Africa and especially in French-speaking Africa. The CNC is present to encourage initiatives in favor of structuring the sector. The Ouaga Film Lab has successfully fulfilled this mission: since 2016, 30

duos of authors and producers have participated in the Ouaga Film Lab and 10 other producers at the Ouaga Producers Lab.

Coaching professionals is essential, especially on the African continent where it helps to strengthen the audiovisual industry. The support of authors and producers is a complementary axis to the selective support that the CNC provides to feature film projects through our international mechanisms such as the World Cinema Funds (l’Aide aux cinémas du monde), a universal program created in 2012 and the Fund for Young Francophone Creation (le Fonds pour la Jeune création francophone) created in 2017 in partnership with our French counterparts.

It is with satisfaction that the CNC monitors the prog- ress of the projects organized by the Labs organized in Ouagadougou, and in particular the successful journey of the documentary Etincelles by Nigerian director Bawa Kadade Riba, selected at the first edition of the Ouaga Film Lab in 2016, supported in post-production by the Young Francophone Creation Fund in 2018 and finally selected at Fespaco in 2019.

The CNC would like to salute Alex Moussa Sawado- go and the work of his collective which helps to boost African creativity. This is a unique opportunity for young talents to train to write, pitch and benefit from personalized support with experienced consultants. The CNC thanks all the partners of choice who are associated with the Ouaga Film Lab and wishes all the promoters of the project, Generation Film and its mentors a successful 4th edition!
